Remembering the HP Way
I was privileged to be part of HP from 1981 through 1999. It was a great experience: I worked hard, I learned much, I formed good friendships, and I think I made a contribution, as did everyone I worked with. I met Dave twice and Bill once. It was a special place.

While the garage is just a building and the HP Way is far more, you can read about the garage and some of HP's history at HP's site.
Disclaimer: While HP is one of myother clients, I've not been an insider at HP since 1999, and I have no real idea of the current HP culture. I wish HP and HP-ites well and hope they keep the essence of Bill and Dave's HP Way alive and growing.

I preferred the Cliff Notes version.
Thanks, Gary, for the comment! I liked the book because it told me some things I didn't know, but I'll admit it didn't have nearly the impact for me that being in the company did.
