More on chauffeurs for the rest of us

Some time ago, I blogged about the benefits of mass transit over driving. (Admittedly, there are advantages of driving over mass transit, too.)

Now Google is beginning to help with comparison shopping with Google Transit. So far, it's only available for Portland, Oregon, but it's got nice features: it lets you compare both travel times and trip costs by mass transit and by car, it lets you pick the time you want to travel and gives custom bus schedules for those times, and it even estimates the walking portion times. If you're in Portland, try it out; if you're not, drool!
